Hello GPT-3!
AI is changing how we write — and the harder question isn't whether AI can write, but whether what it writes is still yours.
AI is changing how we write. Instead of composing text from scratch, we now shift our effort toward ideation — crafting the right prompts, the right personality descriptors, the right context.
Take a simple CEO email. Feed GPT-3 different personality parameters — "friendly 8/10, sharp 9/10, bossy 1/10" — and you get meaningfully different tones. The human effort moves upstream: from writing sentences to deciding what kind of writer you want to be.
The challenge is authenticity. When AI handles composition, keeping your voice intact becomes the harder problem. That's the interesting question now — not whether AI can write, but whether what it writes is still yours.
